Cash Exchange

Tolar banknotes and payment notes are exchangeable at Banka Slovenije counters with no time limit (tolar coins are no longer exchangeable as of 3 January 2017). Banka Slovenije does not provide currency exchange services, and Yugoslav dinars are also no longer exchangeable. 

How do I exchange tolar banknotes and payment notes? 

  • By post: enclose the tolar banknotes and/or payment notes in priority mail with the inscription "do not open", together with the completed tolar exchange form, and send to the following address:

Damaged euro banknotes

Under the Regulation on the replacement of damaged euro banknotes, Banka Slovenije can also replace damaged euro banknotes. 

Damaged euro banknotes can be replaced as follows:

  • By post: enclose the damaged euro banknotes in a sealed envelope together with a signed APPLICATION citing the specifications of the damaged euro banknotes (quantity and value) and a written explanation of how the banknotes were damaged or where the missing parts of the banknote are, and other evidence of the damage, and send to the following address:
