We support the arts
At Banka Slovenije we see our mission as being not just about helping create a stable economic environment, but also more broadly as being part of a commitment to strengthening the prosperity of this and future generations. For this reason we are increasingly prioritising young people, in terms of their education and their scope for expression in the modern environment. At this point, the setting of the central bank too becomes a platform for art – be it fine art, music or some other art form.
Mala galerija Banke Slovenije – MGBS
Each year Banka Slovenije’s exhibition room MGBS plans a series of exhibitions featuring artists and creatives from various schools within the University of Ljubljana who work in fine art, sculpture, photography, design, textile design, architecture and landscape architecture, music, computer tech and acting. We have also entered into cooperation in a number of far-reaching Slovenian and international art projects that take place in the capital city.

We support young musicians
Through the purchase in 2013 of a superlative violin made in 1850 by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume, Banka Slovenije set in motion the project of lending an exquisite instrument to young musical talents. In this way we are providing an opportunity for gifted young music students from the Academy of Music of the University of Ljubljana.
The art collection of Banka Slovenije
Banka Slovenije has been building up its collection of works by Slovenian artists ever since the 1970s. By acquiring artistic works for the collection it supports the creative efforts of Slovenian artists and is shaping an important overview of art from the 19th century to the present day.
History of the Banka Slovenije building
Banka Slovenije has a rich history – not just as an institution, but also as a building. The central area of the city, where the building of the Banka Slovenije is located, was built in the early origins of the city. First sources relating to the building heritage date back to the 17th century.
