Young People in the World of Finance: two projects for a financial future

October 10, 2025

Banka Slovenije is continuing its activities to strengthen young people’s financial literacy in the 2025/2026 school year as well. In collaboration with Slovenian President Dr Nataša Pirc Musar and Minister of Finance Klemen Boštjančič, we are organising two educational projects that will enable young people to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities of today’s financial world.

Masters of the Digital Future – a Banka Slovenije debate-based project

Under the patronage of Slovenian President Dr Nataša Pirc Musar, we are organising a debate-based project, Masters of the Digital Future, which is aimed at primary school pupils in the final triad and at secondary school students.

Young people will discuss current topics such as:

  • the introduction of the digital euro and the impact on cash transactions

  • modern payment methods

  • the importance of financial and digital literacy for a more secure future

  • the sustainable aspects of the financial system.

The project will conclude in May 2026 with an international debate tournament and finale. The winners will receive a two-day trip to Zagreb and a visit to the Croatian central bank. All finalists will also be received by the Slovenian President at the Presidential Palace.

Bodi FIN – a financial literacy project

In collaboration with the Slovenian Ministry of Finance and under the patronage of Banka Slovenije Acting Governor Primož Dolenc and Minister of Finance Klemen Boštjančič, we are organising the Bodi FIN financial literacy project, which is aimed at pupils from Years 4 to 9 of primary school.

The activities will help children:

  • learn the basics of personal finance management

  • recognise online fraud

  • use online payment systems safely and securely

  • recognise the importance of protecting personal data and creating secure passwords

  • use artificial intelligence responsibly.

The project will conclude in March 2026 with a school-based competition directly tied to the content of the Bodi Fin workbooks. Twenty-five gold award winners will be drawn by lot. The lucky children will also win a two-day trip to Zagreb with a visit to the Croatian central bank.

More information on the project can be found here.

Both of these Banka Slovenije projects are designed to strengthen young people’s awareness of the importance of financial and digital literacy, and to encourage young people to think critically. We believe that children and young people are the cornerstone of a safe, secure and sustainable future.
