Each year Banka Slovenije issues occasional coins to mark events and anniversaries of significance to Slovenia or of broader international importance. The deadline for collecting proposals for the events to be commemorated in 2027 was 30 September 2025. The Occasional Coins Commission drew up its own proposal from the 48 proposals received, based on which the government stipulated in the Decree determining the events for which occasional coins are being issued in 2027 (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 5/26) that the following should be marked in 2027:
the 100th anniversary of the birth of the illustrator Ančka Gošnik Godec, by issuing a 2-euro commemorative coin, and
the 80th anniversary of Primorska rejoining its homeland, by issuing collector coins.
Banka Slovenije is continuing to collect proposals for events to mark in the years ahead, and is currently collecting proposals for 2028 onwards. We are inviting you to take part in the proposal creation process in line with Article 1 of the Occasional Coins Act. Please provide a brief explanation with your proposal.
