Interest Rates
Interest rates are a key factor by which central banks influence prices, economic growth, and stability. Bank interest rates affect individuals’ and businesses’ decisions on saving or borrowing, the profitability of investments, and the value of a country’s currency.
The statistics on interest rates for banks and savings banks (monetary financial institutions) monitor money market interest rates, deposit and loan interest rates for households and businesses (non-financial corporations), and revaluation rates. We track monthly interest rates for both existing and new transactions, and based on this data, we calculate aggregate average interest rates across various categories for Slovenia. These interest rates by category are published monthly as annual percentage rates.
We also publish interest rates set by the European Central Bank, the euro short-term rate (€STR), base interest rate and interest rate for late payment, long-term interest rates for convergence assessment purposes, and average effective interest rates of consumer credits.
