National Payments Council
The National Payments Council (NPC) was established by Banka Slovenije in 2013 as a strategic consultative platform for stakeholders in the payments market in Slovenia.
Through dialogue within NPC, stakeholders coordinate their interests in exploiting synergies in the payments market, which is becoming increasingly complex due to the pace of advancements and the interdependence of numerous stakeholders. The exchange of views facilitates the formulation of joint actions and the addressing of shared issues that cannot be resolved by a single entity or group of stakeholders acting alone.
The NPC’s vision is a payments market that offeres users the opportunity to choose secure, innovative, inclusive and sustainable payment options that satisfy their needs while being efficient for society as a whole.
Alongside Banka Slovenije, which chairs the NPC, there are entities that are umbrella or sectoral organisations of stakeholders in the payments market, each contributing from their own perspective to the functioning of the payments market in Slovenia, and potentially to the implementation of socially effective means of payment:
