Next week, from 13 to 18 April, the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) will take place in Washington, D.C. As customary, the Slovenian delegation will also attend, comprising representatives of Banka Slovenija and the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Slovenia, together with Governor Primož Dolenc and Minister Klemen Boštjančič.
Governor Primož Dolenc will, among other engagements, attend the meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC), which convenes twice a year—at the Spring Meetings and in the autumn during the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings. At the IMFC meeting, the discussion will focus on current challenges in the global economy, including persistent geopolitical uncertainty and the associated weak outlook for economic growth. Increased fragmentation of the global economy also remains a key challenge. The agenda will further include structural issues related to digitalization, artificial intelligence, and the climate transition.
Special attention will also be devoted to exchanges of views with the IMF mission responsible for Slovenia and with other representatives of the IMF’s European Department. The focus will be on the current economic situation and the state of the banking system in Slovenia, as well as on structural challenges that Slovenia largely shares with other European countries.
The Governor will also participate, together with other members of the Slovenian delegation, in a number of bilateral meetings with representatives of the IMF. Both the Governor and the Minister will be available to provide statements to the media.
