In January 2025, the current account of the balance of payments was almost balanced (the deficit amounted to only EUR 9 million). This marked the end of a series of twenty-four consecutive months of surplus. The trade in goods balance showed a deficit (EUR 45 million) for the third consecutive month, while in the trade in services, the Slovenian economy achieved a surplus of EUR 0.2 billion in the first month of the new year. Year-on-year, the balance of both goods and services decreased by a total of EUR 0.2 billion, with the trade in goods balance shifting from a surplus to a deficit due to increased imports. Primary and secondary incomes recorded a deficit of EUR 0.2 billion, which increased by EUR 52 million.
