What is now the 23rd Summer Night at the Museum will be held on Saturday 21 June 2025. Once again the Banka Slovenije Museum and Mala Galerija exhibition space will be hosting a rich programme for various age groups, and that day the Museum will be open between 6 and 11 pm, while the gallery will stay open until midnight. Entrance is free of charge.
This year’s Summer Night at the Banka Slovenije Museum will begin at 6 pm with a creative workshop intended for children aged 8 to 15 years. After a brief introductory familiarisation with the Museum collection, the children will be guided by a well-known illustrator to create designs related to the new image of euro banknotes. This will be followed at 9 pm by a guided tour for adults, which will offer insights into the key tasks of the central bank, a viewing of payment coupons and the former tolar currency and a chance to feel the weight of a gold bar.
The number of visitor places is limited, so those wishing to attend the workshop and guided tour must register in advance at [email protected] by 19 June 2025. Entrance is free of charge. After you have registered, we will send you further information and instructions.
If you feel like taking a stroll around the city centre on the Summer Night at the Museum, we invite you to try out your skills in the digital game around Ljubljana called Hunt for Lost Money. The game takes place outside, close to our museum. You start by using a QR code, which will be printed on posters near the museum on Cankarjeva Street, or via the online link which we will post that day on social media. During the game you get to move between specific points in the city with a link to the tolar, Slovenia’s first and only independent currency. You can play the game as a team or on your own, and you will need a mobile phone and about half an hour to play.
During the Summer Night at the Museum, the Banka Slovenije Mala Galerija will host the exhibition Comfort Zone: Displays of Affection. The exhibition is tied to the fourth issue of the magazine ETC. titled Comfort Zone, which explores the ways of understanding comfort and safety in the context of representations of family, love, friendship and community. Registration is not required. The gallery will be open that day until midnight. Entry is free. You can learn more about the exhibition on this link.
Attendance at all events is free of charge.
