Following the lead taken by the European Supervisory Authorities (EBA, EIOPA and ESMA), we have today issued a warning for consumers about the risks that can be attached to crypto-assets, and that legal protection (if it exists at all) depends on which crypto-assets you invest in. We recommend that consumers take a number of concrete steps before they start investing in crypto-assets so that they are able to make informed decisions – for example, checking whether a provider is licensed to provide services in the EU. We have also prepared an information booklet explaining what the new Market in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) Regulation means for consumers.
