Today sees Slovenia embark on its regular consultation with the IMF under Article IV of the IMF’s Articles of Agreement. IMF representatives will be in Slovenia from 5 to 18 November 2025. Their preliminary findings will be presented at the conclusion of the mission.
The purpose of these consultations is to review the recent economic developments, the functioning of the financial sector and the banking system. They will also focus on the competitiveness, productivity, intangible investments, financial challenges in Slovenia's health sector and building fiscal space in Slovenia. Based on conversations with all the institutions involved, a report for Slovenia will be prepared in the coming months, outlining the IMF’s views and recommendations regarding sound financial, fiscal and structural policies for the country.
During the consultations, Huidan Lin, the new mission chief for Slovenia, and the other team members Dmitriy Kovtun, Kue-Peng (KP) Chuah and Hassan Adan will meet representatives of Banka Slovenije, the Ministry of Finance, other ministries, the IMAD, the Fiscal Council, the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Employers' Association, the Slovenian-German Chamber of Commerce, the Institute for Economic Research, the National Assembly, the Bank Association of Slovenia, and selected commercial banks and trade unions.
Ms Lin will present the preliminary end-of-mission findings together with Klemen Boštjančič, the finance minister, and Primož Dolenc, Acting Governor of Banka Slovenije, at a press conference to be held at 12:00 p.m. on 18 November 2025 at the premises of Banka Slovenije.
