The Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WB) will begin on Monday, 12 October, in Bangkok, Thailand, and will run through 18 October. The Annual Meetings are held outside the United States every third year, with Thailand serving as host for the second time.
In the role of the Governor of the IMF's Board of Governors, Governor Dolenc will attend the meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC), which meets twice a year during every Spring Meetings and autumn Annual Meetings of the IMF and the WB.
The IMFC will discuss current challenges to global economic and financial stability, with a particular focus on global macroeconomic imbalances and climate-related risks. The discussion will also cover updates to regulatory and supervisory frameworks, including risks related to the development of artificial intelligence and the expansion of digital finance.
Particular attention will be paid to supporting the most vulnerable countries, in particular, the long-term sustainability of the Poverty Reduction and Growth Trust (PRGT), ensuring adequate IMF financial resources, and continued support for low-income countries.
In the area of IMF quotas and governance, attention will focus on further work under the 17th General Review of Quotas. Global debt vulnerabilities will also be an important topic as well as the discussion of the IMF’s Global Policy Agenda. Governor Dolenc, together with other members of the Slovenian delegation, will also participate in several other multilateral and bilateral meetings.
