Press release - A commemorative 2-euro coin
The Government of the Republic of Slovenia has decided to mark the 10th anniversary of the introduction of the euro in Slovenia by issuing a commemorative 2-euro coin. The design chosen for the national side was created by Matej Ramšak, and one million of the coins will be minted. In accordance with the Occasional Coins Act and the decision by the Governing Board of the Bank of Slovenia, the coin will be released into circulation by the Bank of Slovenia on 2 February 2017, and will be legal tender in all euro area countries.
A further 2,500 proof quality commemorative coins (in a plastic capsule) will be produced for the collectors’ market (in addition to BU quality coins). They will be on sale from 2 February 2017 at selected branches of Deželna banka Slovenije and at the Bank of Slovenia’s counters.
