Press release on the annual meeting of the IMF

Marko Kranjec, the Governor of the Bank of Slovenia, and Božo Jašovič, a member of the Governing Board of the Bank of Slovenia, will attend the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington at the end of this week.Among the main subjects to be discussed by the IMF’s Monetary and Financial Committee, in which Mr Kranjec will participate, will be the current conditions in the world economy, which will take place in the light of the IMF’s economic growth forecasts, and careful monitoring of the latest developments on financial markets. The meeting of the Monetary and Financial Committee will also present a new opportunity to discuss ways to ensure that the financing of the IMF has long-term stability, and the creation of a new formula for assigning quotas.
 
Mr Kranjec and Mr Jašovič will also hold talks in Washington with Michael Deppler, the director of the European Department at the IMF, with Willy Kiekens, the executive director of the IMF’s Slovenian constituency, and with other representatives of international financial and banking institutions.
