Press release from the meeting of the Governing Board of the Bank of Slovenia of 3 March 2009

1. At today’s meeting the Governing Board of the Bank of Slovenia was briefed on current economic and financial trends, and approved the release of the February 2009 Economic and Financial Trends. 

2. The Governing Board of the Bank of Slovenia was briefed on current banking operations and developments on the capital markets. 

3. The Governing Board of the Bank of Slovenia was briefed on the report on payment systems operations and the use of payment instruments for the final quarter of 2008. 

4. The Governing Board of the Bank of Slovenia was briefed on information regarding the counterfeiting of cash in Slovenia in 2008. The number of counterfeit euro banknotes rose by 7.9% compared with the previous year, while the value of counterfeit euro banknotes was down. The EUR 100, 50 and 20 denominations accounted for the majority of counterfeit banknotes.
