During Ljubljana Tourism Week, come visit the Banka Slovenije Museum and Mala Galerija

09/09/2024 / Press release

For the first time Banka Slovenije will join this year’s Ljubljana Tourism Week, which will run from 23 to 29 September 2024. The Banka Slovenije Museum and the Mala Galerija art exhibition space have designed a variety of activities intended for all age groups. You can join in the prize game Hunt for Lost Money, various activities at the Museum and a tour of the latest exhibition in the Mala Galerija.

If you feel like having an active walk through the city, we invite you to take part in the prize game Hunt for Lost Money, which will take place outside, close to our museum and the city centre. The game will take place all week, from 23 to 29 September 2024. You can start using the QR code or the online link, and you get to move between specific points in the city that are tied to the first and only independent Slovenian currency – the tolar. You can play the game as a team or individual, and you will need a mobile phone and about an hour to play. We will draw three prize winners from all the participants who successfully completed the game. The QR code and online link is also available via social media on Facebook and Instagram

On Tuesday 24 September 2024 at 5 pm we will offer a Tour of the Museum for families with children. This activity is intended for families with children under the age of 12. We will begin the tour with a joint introductory part, then families can explore the museum on their own with the help of materials and a guide. While they actively explore the museum, visitors will see the most attractive exhibits, learn about the euro area and identify the key tasks of the central bank, and every single visitor will be able to feel the weight of a gold bar in their hands and sit on a chair made of destroyed banknotes. Those who participate successfully in solving puzzles will gain the code to open the safe containing a prize.

On Wednesday 25 September 2024 at 5 pm the museum will host the team game Atlas’s Secret. This is a virtual game with elements of an escape room, during which you will get to know the basic financial terms, learn about the key tasks of the central bank and explore the museum exhibits. As in the Tour of the Museum, the aim of the game is to discover the code to unlock the safe containing a prize. The game is played in teams and is suitable for adults and secondary school and university students, and for students in the last three years of primary school when accompanied by parents.

All the events are free. Prior registration is required for the Tour of the Museum and Atlas’s Secret at [email protected] by 23 September 2024. The number of places is limited. When you register, please state for which event you are registering and whom you are registering. After you have signed up, we will send you further information and instructions.

During Ljubljana Tourism Week Banka Slovenije’s Mala Galerija will feature an exhibition of the works of Bogdan Borčič entitled Heading Nowhere from Nowhere. It will be open to the public between 11 am and 7 pm, Tuesdays to Saturdays. During the exhibition dates (from 3 September to 1 October 2024) we will offer two guided tours for the public, on 11 September and 1 October (on the final day of the exhibition). Both guided tours will begin at 5 pm. Registration is not necessary, and there is no admission fee.

Ljubljana Tourism Week is organised by Turizem Ljubljana.
We warmly invite you to include us in your experience of the last week of September.
