Celebrate Ta veseli dan kulture (day of culture) at the Banka Slovenije Museum and Mala galerija Banke Slovenije
Ta veseli dan kulture is celebrated every year in Slovenia on 3 December, on the birthday of the poet France Prešeren. This year, we will again be organising a special programme for children and adults at the Banka Slovenije Museum and exhibition room Mala galerija.
On Sunday, 3 December 2022, at 11:00, families with children are invited to explore the Banka Slovenije Museum. A family tour of the Museum is intended for the first and second triad pupils of primary schools, accompanied by their parents or guardians. After a short introduction, children and their parents will be able to see the most attractive exhibits (one of the first cash machines in Slovenia, old piggy banks and money in Slovenia, a chair made of shredded euro banknotes and a bar made out of gold), families will also explore the Museum on their own with the help of the materials and a guide. If they are successful, they will be able to crack the code and open the safe, located in the Museum. Who knows, there might be a surprise waiting for them inside the safe? Visitors will also be able to write a postcard from the Museum, put a Banka Slovenije stamp on it, and post it, while others will be able to play with a didactic puzzle game of occasional coins, which will help them understand more closely certain important events and figures in Slovenian history in Europe. These attractions and a more in-depth look into the functions and activities of Banka Slovenije will also be presented to the adult visitors, who will be able to take a guided tour of the Museum at 14:00. Ta veseli dan kulture will end with a virtual game "Atlas's secret" at 16:00. This team game is intended primarily for high-school pupils, students and adults. Third triad pupils can only play the game if accompanied by their parents. The number of participants is limited.
Registration is required for all three events at the Banka Slovenije Museum (family tour of the Museum, guided tour for the adults and virtual game "Atlas's Secret") and will be accepted until 30 November 2023 at [email protected]. When registering, please specify which event you wish to attend and whom you are registering. We will send you more detailed instructions and guidance once you have registered.
On Sunday 3 December 2023, Mala Galerija Banke Slovenije will also be open from 11:00 to 19:00, where we are currently hosting an exhibition by art history students from the University of Ljubljana's Faculty of Arts, titled Visit the exhibition in the Jakopič Pavilion. It concerns the programme of exhibitions held in the old Jakopič Pavilion between 1919 and 1945. The pavilion used to stand at the entrance to Tivoli Park, and from 1909 was the main space for displaying contemporary fine art and other visual output in Ljubljana. You can visit Mala galerija Banke Slovenije without pre-announcement.
You are most welcome to join us at the Banka Slovenije Museum and Mala Galerija Banke Slovenije.
