Results of tender for designing drafts of occasional coins to be issued in 2019

In the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 07/18 the government of the Republic of Slovenia published a Decree determining to mark the following events by issuing occasional coins in 2019:

  • €2 commemorative coin to mark 100th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Ljubljana and
  • collector coins to mark 100th anniversary of joining Prekmurje region with its motherland.

The Bank of Slovenia published a tender for designing drafts of occasional coins to be issued in 2019 on April 26 2018. The tender was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 29/18 and on the Bank of Slovenia's web page. By the end of the tender on May 31 2018 we received 23 drafts for €2 commemorative coin and 12 drafts for collector coins.

On the proposal of the special Commission for issuing occasional coins, established by the Bank of Slovenia and Ministry of finance, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia decided to award the following drafts for designing €2 commemorative coin:

  1. prize (€3.000) for draft with code L.U.C. – authors: Daniela Vidmar Podboj and Tomaž Podboj;
  2. prize (€1.500)  for draft with code 192019 – author: Edi Berk;
  3. prize (€1.000) for draft with code D2R8N10 – author: Dejan Ščernjavič.

For collector coins the following drafts are awarded:

  1. prize (€3.000) for draft with code LX89S – author: Matej Ramšak;
  2. prize (€1.500) for draft with code YMX83 – author: Matej Štanta;
  3. prize (€1.000) for draft with code 33MD11 – authors: Mojca Mlinar and Dominik Košak.

Occasional coins will be minted based on the drafts awarded with first prize.
