Household wealth, debt, and exposure to financial risks significantly impact economic development and the shaping of economic policies. Banka Slovenije therefore invites you to the presentation of the Household Finance and Consumption Survey, followed by a discussion on the financial position of households.
How wealthy are Slovenian households? What is the structure of their wealth and debt? How do interest rate changes affect different population groups? How much of their wealth stems from real estate ownership and inheritance, and how does this impact the opportunities for younger generations to build wealth? Answers to these questions are offered by the Household Finance and Consumption Survey, conducted by Banka Slovenije as part of the Eurosystem's research project. The survey provides a comprehensive insight into household wealth, indebtedness, savings, and financial resilience, as well as their response to changes in the economic environment.
At the event, which will take place on Wednesday, 18 November 2026, at 10:00 AM in the Great Hall of Banka Slovenije, we will present the key results of the latest round of the survey for Slovenia and their application in economic analyses and policy-making. The discussion will focus on wealth inequality, the impact of interest rates and housing prices, and the structure of household assets and liabilities.
The event will be opened by the Governor of Banka Slovenije Primož Dolenc, while the introduction to the presentation and substantive discussion will be delivered by the Vice Governor of Banka Slovenije Tina Žumer.
The program will continue with expert insights presented by the directors of three departments of Banka Slovenije. Irena Drmaž, Director of Financial Statistics, will highlight the key findings of the 2023 Household Finance and Consumption Survey, after which Arjana Brezigar, Director of the Analysis and Research Center, will present the application of the gathered data in macroeconomic analyses. Finally, Meta Ahtik, Director of Financial Stability and Macroprudential Policy, will address their usefulness for financial stability analysis as well as the formulation of macroprudential policies and measures.
We look forward to welcoming you to the event.
The event will be held in Slovenian only.
Attendance is free of charge, registration via form below is open until Friday, 13 November 2026.
