Bodi FIN – a financial literacy project for primary school children
Under the patronage of Governor Primož Dolenc and Minister of Finance Andrej Šircelj, Banka Slovenije and the Ministry of Finance are once again organising the Bodi FIN financial literacy project, this time for the 2026/2027 school year.
The programme is designed for both primary school pupils from Years 4 to 9 and secondary school students. Through video content, educational materials and accompanying activities, participants will explore key financial topics such as the role of money in society, inflation, taxation, saving and investing. They will also examine contemporary financial challenges related to the digital euro, payments, crypto-assets, and the safe use of financial services online.
The course of the project
Mentors will receive the Bodi FIN workbook, which they will tackle together with their students in class. The mentors will be able to submit the completed workbooks to Banka Slovenije, with the students receiving a symbolic prize in return.
From October to March, we will deliver financial literacy workshops at participating schools, each lasting two school periods. Workshops will take place on Wednesdays. Schools will also have the option to participate in a financial literacy workshop with a debate focus, delivered by Pro et contra, Slovenia’s national debating organisation. This workshop will last five school periods.
On 23 October 2026, Banka Slovenije will host a financial literacy seminar for project mentors, featuring an updated programme.
Project mentors and their students are also invited to attend the Ceremony Marking the 20th Anniversary of the Euro and the 35th Anniversary of the Slovenian Tolar on the evening of 5 November 2026 (for lower secondary school students), as well as the Open Day of Banka Slovenije and the Ministry of Finance on the morning of 27 November 2026.
The online school competition will take place from 15 to 19 March 2027, while the top-performing participants will compete in person at the national finals on 5 April 2027. The competition content will be directly linked to the topics covered in the project workbooks.
The top 60 participants in the national finals will be invited to attend a three-day FIN Camp on the Slovenian coast. All other participants receiving a gold award will receive practical prizes.
